Uganda’s football governing body has suspended several match officials and referred them to the disciplinary panel after reviewing controversial incidents in two recent domestic fixtures.

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations confirmed on Monday, March 9, 2026, that the FUFA Referees Standing Committee reviewed the matches involving SC Villa against Express and Buhimba United Saints against Police before forwarding several officials to the FUFA Referees Disciplinary Panel.

Assistant referee Immaculate Ongiera faces disciplinary review following her officiation during the 0-0 draw between SC Villa and Express on March 7.

The official came under scrutiny after disallowing a goal for offside in a decision that triggered debate among players and supporters.

The disciplinary action also targets the entire officiating team from the February 17 fixture between Buhimba United Saints and Police.

Referee Henry Musisi, assistant referees Samuel Mbabali and Fred Kinyera, fourth official John Semakula, match assessor Hillary Kimbugwe and general coordinator Christopher Kugonza have all been referred to the disciplinary panel.

FUFA confirmed that all the officials involved remain suspended from future appointments until the disciplinary panel completes its hearings and delivers a ruling.

The referees’ body stated that the move forms part of its responsibility to enforce the Laws of the Game and protect the credibility of domestic competitions.

The committee added that it expects high standards from referees and will act against any officiating conduct that undermines the integrity of football in the country.
