Dr. Flavian Zeija, Chief Justice of the Judiciary of Uganda, has reappointed Stephen Musota as the Chief Inspector of Courts for another three-year term.

According to a statement from the Judiciary, the reappointment took effect on January 25, 2026.

Justice Musota, who currently serves as a Supreme Court Justice, was first appointed Chief Inspector of Courts on January 27, 2023.

His reappointment reflects the confidence the Chief Justice has in his leadership and stewardship of the Inspectorate of Courts during his previous tenure.

The reappointment was made in accordance with Article 133(1)(b) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, Section 8 (2), (3) and (4) of the Administration of the Judiciary Act, 2020, and Paragraph 8 of the Administration of the Judiciary (Inspectorate of Courts) Regulations, 2023.

As Chief Inspector of Courts, Justice Musota will continue overseeing the operations of the Inspectorate of Courts, an arm of the Judiciary mandated to ensure accountability, integrity, discipline, and performance standards across courts at all levels.

The Inspectorate of Courts plays a critical role in strengthening oversight within the justice system by handling complaints against judicial officers and monitoring the performance and conduct of courts.

Through the Inspectorate, the Judiciary says it remains committed to implementing reforms aimed at improving transparency, responsiveness, and efficiency in the administration of justice.
