Award-winning Ugandan singer Eddy Kenzo took to social media to celebrate his wife, Hon. Phiona Nyamutoro, for winning the party flag in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries.

Nyamutoro, currently serving as the Minister of State for Minerals in the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, was contesting to become the Woman Member of Parliament (MP) for Nebbi District.

The NRM, Uganda’s ruling party, was holding its nationwide primaries today to select its flagbearers ahead of the 2026 general elections.

Kenzo shared his excitement and gratitude on X (formerly Twitter), posting:

“Nebbi has spoken 90% for Honourable @PNyamutoro. Congratulations, Nyamu wafe bambi mwebale kusaba banange 🙏🙏 Nebbi, you have chosen the right person. Asante sana.”

The message, written in a mix of English, Luganda, and Swahili, reflected both his joy and appreciation to the people of Nebbi for supporting his wife, affectionately calling her “Nyamu wafe” — our Nyamutoro.

Nyamutoro is no stranger to national politics. Before her current ministerial role, she served as the Female National Youth MP, earning recognition for her advocacy on youth empowerment, education, and development issues.

Her rising political profile has made her one of the standout young leaders in the NRM.
