Ugandan singer Mikie Wine has clarified rumours surrounding his latest track, “Zuena,” which many fans believed was a subtle dig at fellow artist Bebe Cool and his wife, Zuena Kirema.

The song, a creative take on Ragga Dee’s classic hit “Oyagala Cash,” tells the story of a girl named Zuena who broke the narrator’s heart by chasing fame and fortune over love.

The name and theme instantly sparked speculation, with listeners quick to draw parallels between the fictional “Zuena” and Bebe Cool’s real-life wife, prompting a storm of online debate and media buzz.

But Mikie Wine has now put the rumours to rest.

“If I were singing about the real Zuena, the wife of Bebe Cool, I would have mentioned Bebe Cool as well,” he stated. “They should take it from me. I do not have time to sing about him.”

He was firm in his denial, calling the assumptions “misconceived” and urging fans to focus on the true intent behind the song. Mikie explained that “Zuena” draws from his heartbreak, not any public feud or industry rivalry.

“I have also sung about other people, such as Namata,” he noted, adding that his storytelling often reflects real-life experiences meant to resonate with listeners.

At its heart, “Zuena” carries a universal message:

“Let’s love people for who they are, and genuinely, not for their money,” Mikie shared, emphasising the song’s theme of authenticity and emotional sincerity in relationships.
