The Buganda Kingdom has approved a UGX 409.315 billion budget for the 2026/2027 financial year, outlining spending priorities aimed at strengthening governance, cultural preservation, and socio-economic development across the Kingdom.

The budget, passed through the Kingdom’s internal planning and finance structures, sets out allocations for administration, education, health initiatives, infrastructure support, and cultural programmes implemented across Buganda’s counties and institutions.

Officials say a large share of the budget will go toward supporting the Kingdom’s administrative operations, including coordination of county-level activities, staff welfare, and strengthening service delivery mechanisms within traditional governance structures.

Development programmes under the financial plan are expected to focus on youth empowerment, women’s livelihood initiatives, and community-based projects designed to improve household incomes across different regions of Buganda.

The budget also highlights continued investment in cultural preservation, including maintenance of historical sites, promotion of heritage activities, and strengthening of institutions that safeguard Buganda’s traditions and identity.

Kingdom leaders say the financial framework reflects a broader effort to modernise internal systems while maintaining cultural values and enhancing engagement with government and development partners.

Observers note that the UGX 409.3 billion budget underscores Buganda Kingdom’s continued role as a major socio-cultural institution with significant influence in mobilising communities across central Uganda.

The approved budget will guide the Kingdom’s operations throughout the 2026/2027 financial year as implementation begins under various administrative departments.
