In a heartfelt tribute shared on his official social media platforms, Allan Kasujja recounted his encounter with Esteri Tebandeke and her husband, Samuel Tebandeke, during a 2022 trip across Africa. At the time, Esteri was battling kidney failure and undergoing treatment at Mulago National Referral Hospital.

Kasujja reflected on the couple’s extraordinary bond, sharing how Samuel had offered to donate one of his kidneys to save his wife. He described their story as a powerful example of love, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment. The couple needed approximately $40,000 for the transplant, and moved by their situation, Kasujja pledged to raise the matter with Yoweri Museveni.

“After meeting President Museveni, he promptly instructed his then Principal Private Secretary, Kenneth Omona, to ensure Esteri received the funds,” Kasujja wrote.

With the financial support secured, Esteri and Samuel travelled to India for the life-saving procedure. The transplant was initially successful, and Kasujja remained in close contact with the couple, following Esteri’s recovery journey.

However, the story took a tragic turn when Samuel later informed Kasujja that Esteri had passed away. The news left him devastated.

“I am gutted. Esteri was young, beautiful, and immensely talented. I wish she had lived much longer,” he wrote. “May she now rest peacefully after such a difficult few years.”

Kasujja also paid tribute to Samuel, describing him as one of the most remarkable men he has ever met, and extended his condolences to Esteri’s family and friends during this difficult time.
