Former Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has reportedly been taken into custody in an incident that is already drawing significant public attention.

According to journalist Canary Mugume, Lukwago was picked up from his home in Wakaliga on Monday morning under unclear circumstances.

Sources indicate that the opposition figure, who also leads the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), had initially planned to appear for a television interview but later opted to participate from his residence. Shortly after, security operatives allegedly accessed the property by scaling the perimeter fence before entering the house and arresting him.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the operation, and no charges have been publicly disclosed so far.

Lukwago is part of the legal team representing veteran opposition leader Kizza Besigye in an ongoing treason-related case, placing him at the center of high-profile legal and political developments in the country.

The reported arrest has sparked widespread interest and concern, with observers now awaiting clarification from security agencies on the reasons behind the move and Lukwago’s current whereabouts.
