Joint security operations conducted across the Kampala Metropolitan area have resulted in the arrest of 90 suspects believed to be involved in a range of criminal activities, police said on Thursday.
The operations, carried out by the Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) together with other security agencies, targeted areas suspected to harbour criminal gangs involved in robbery, theft, and narcotics trafficking.
According to police authorities, the raids were intelligence-led and focused on locations that have recently experienced an increase in crime.
During the operations, officers reportedly recovered suspected drugs and several items believed to have been stolen from victims.
Police said the arrested suspects are currently in custody at different police stations within the metropolitan area as investigations continue.
Authorities noted that the operations are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and curb criminal activity in Kampala and surrounding districts.
Police have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to help security agencies maintain safety in the city.
