Jamaican dancehall star Konshens says his connection with East Africa goes beyond concert fees, pushing back against critics questioning his affection for the region ahead of his scheduled performance in Uganda this December.

In a social media post, the Bruk Off Yuh Back singer said he has consistently supported East African music and artistes, even when he is not visiting the region.

“I Big Up East Africa Year Round not just when im coming there!” he wrote, arguing that his appreciation for the region should be judged by his record rather than his concert appearances.

Konshens said the affection he receives from East African fans means more to him than the money he earns from performing there.

“East Africa dont pay me the most, they LOVE me the Most and i was never ever shy about Loving them right back,” he added.

To back his argument, the dancehall star pointed to several collaborations and remixes involving musicians from the region, including Ugandan singer A Pass.

He cited Gamululu, his collaboration with A Pass, as one of the musical connections he values. He also mentioned the Backbencher remix with Kenyan artiste Toxic Lyrikali and a remix of Figa, a song associated with Kenyan group Ethic Entertainment.

Konshens suggested that some of these projects received little commercial attention or were never officially released, but said his involvement reflected his interest in the region’s music rather than a pursuit of chart success.

He also recalled the excitement around the first time G Money played the Figa remix, pointing to the moment as another example of his appreciation for East African sounds.

Ugandan singer Pallaso also featured in his post, with Konshens expressing disappointment that their collaboration did not receive the attention he believed it deserved.

“U guys slept on this song btw, this shoulda been a hit,” he wrote, sharing a video of the song.

The post comes as Konshens prepares to perform in Uganda in December. His message appears aimed at reassuring fans that his relationship with East African music and audiences extends beyond scheduled appearances in the region.
