Kira Municipality, Wakiso District: Police have arrested 95 suspects following a large-scale anti-crime operation conducted across several neighbourhoods in Kira Municipality as security agencies intensify efforts to tackle urban crime.

The intelligence-led crackdown targeted areas identified by authorities as crime hotspots, including sections of Najjera, Bulindo, Kiwatule, and nearby communities.

The operation involved coordinated teams from police and other security units working alongside local leaders to track down suspected offenders and dismantle criminal networks.

According to police, the suspects are being investigated for a range of offences, including aggravated robbery, phone snatching, burglary, assault, and drug-related crimes.

During the raids, officers reportedly recovered suspected narcotics and other items believed to be connected to criminal activity.

All those arrested were taken into custody at the Kira Police Division and neighbouring stations for screening and further investigation.

Police emphasised that only suspects found with cases to answer will be formally charged, while those cleared during the verification process will be released.

Security officials described the operation as part of ongoing measures to enhance public safety and respond to concerns from residents about increasing criminal incidents in fast-growing urban areas within the Kampala Metropolitan region.

Authorities have called on members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement by reporting suspicious activity, noting that community involvement is essential in sustaining peace and security.
