Veteran Deejay Bush Baby Dies At Studio In Entebbe

Veteran Deejay Michael Benjamin Owor, also known as Deejay Bush Baby, has died.

The celebrated deejay and media consultant passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, mentorship, and innovation in the entertainment industry.

The cause of his death is yet to be established. But close friends have disclosed that he was found lifeless in his studio in Entebbe.

DJ Bush Baby was a pioneer in Uganda’s media and entertainment landscape.

He started his career in the early 2000s and quickly became a household name, known for his dynamic presence on the radio and television. His work spanned across various media houses, including Urban TV, NBS TV, and STV, where he held roles as a presenter, senior producer, and head of content. His contributions were instrumental in shaping Uganda’s entertainment scene

In 2021, DJ Bush Baby faced a life-threatening challenge when he suffered a severe accident at his home. While performing domestic tasks, he stepped on a weak manhole cover, resulting in a fractured pelvic bone and damage to vital internal organs. The incident required extensive surgery and a lengthy recovery period.

Despite the severity of his injuries, he displayed remarkable resilience, undergoing successful surgery and expressing gratitude for the support he received from friends, colleagues, and fans.

Beyond his on-air presence, DJ Bush Baby was deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of talent. He initiated the “Salute the DJ” program, a mentorship platform aimed at empowering young deejays in Uganda.

Through this initiative, he provided guidance, training, and opportunities for emerging talents, ensuring the growth and professionalisation of the deejay community.

His influence extended beyond the entertainment industry. DJ Bush Baby was known for his philanthropic efforts, often using his platform to raise awareness and funds for various causes. His ability to connect with people and inspire change made him a respected figure in both media and community circles.
