The President of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu, aka Bobi Wine, has revealed that the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) soldiers that were recently deployed at his home in Magere forced themselves into the home and took it over.

In a post shared on his X on Tuesday, Kyagulanyi alleged that the soldiers on Monday night carried out a third raid on the home before the family could assess the extent of the damage during the previous raids on the home.

“Last night, the military surrounding our home in Magere once again forced themselves into the house. They’re now fully occupying our entire home – INSIDE, outside, and around it. We are still unable to assess the extent of the destruction caused to the house when they first broke it and vandalised it on 23rd January”, he said.

Bobi Wine further noted that his family has been barred from accessing the home, making it more difficult for the family to identify the particular documents that the UPDF took away from the home recently.

“Neither have we been able to take stock of what items and documents the armed men seized from the house, since none of our family members has ever been allowed to access it since the attack happened”, he said.

On January 23rd, the UPDF soldiers carried out a second raid on Bobi Wine’s home, who is still in hiding following the January 15th elections and allegedly beat up his family members before separating them from his wife, Barbie Kyagulanyi.

According to officials in the opposition, the raid was aimed at deliberately seizing Bobi Wine’s phone, who has been in active contact with international media, diplomats, and legal observers in recent days.

However, CDF Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba denied allegations that the soldiers beat up Barbie Kyagulanyi during the second security raid.

By the time of this publication, the UPDF had yet to state the allegation. Bobi Wine, who remains in hiding, rejected the results of the January 15 presidential polls in which President Museveni was declared the winner with 71.65%.
