The Uganda Police Force CID Director, Tom Magambo, is mourning the loss of his son, Magambo Timothy, whose body has been returned to Uganda following a tragic drowning incident in the United States.
Family representative Mbuya Catholic Parish confirmed that the remains arrived in the country at approximately 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, marking the commencement of burial arrangements.
The death of Timothy, which occurred last week abroad, has drawn sorrow across Uganda’s security and government circles, with colleagues and friends describing the loss as devastating and untimely.
According to the burial programme, a requiem Mass will be held today at Mbuya Catholic Parish in Kampala at 9:00 a.m., where mourners are expected to gather to pray for the deceased and comfort the bereaved family.
After the church service, the body will be transported to Kisarabwire Village in Masindi Municipality, the ancestral home of the Magambo family, where a vigil will take place on Wednesday evening at the residence of CID Director Tom Magambo.
The burial is scheduled for Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in Kisarabwire Village, located about two kilometres from Masindi Municipality.
The tragedy has triggered an outpouring of condolences from senior officials, police officers, and members of the public, many of whom have expressed solidarity with the Magambo family during this period of grief.
While details surrounding the drowning incident in the U.S. remain limited, the sudden loss has left relatives and associates in shock, as preparations continue for the final farewell.
The family has expressed gratitude to all well-wishers for their support, noting that the messages of comfort and prayers have helped them cope with the painful loss.
Mourners have also turned to scripture for comfort, including Psalm 34:18: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
