Africa’s innovative smartphone brand, Tecno Mobile, has officially launched the Camon 50 series in Uganda, unveiling two new devices: the Camon 50 and Camon 50 Pro. The launch event was held at Skyz Hotel in Naguru.
The Camon 50 series marks the first entries in Tecno’s new lineup and succeeds the Camon 40 series. Both devices are 4G models powered by MediaTek processors and come equipped with Tecno’s AI suite, designed to enhance photography and social media experiences.
Both variants feature a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 1,208 x 2,644-pixel resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals. While the Camon 50 has a flat screen, the Pro model boasts a slightly curved display. The two devices also include a One-Tap AI key, dual speakers with Dolby Atmos, and IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance.
Under the hood, the smartphones run on the MediaTek Helio G200 Ultimate chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
Powering both models is a 6,500mAh battery that supports 45W wired fast charging. On the software side, they run HiOS 16 based on Android 16 and offer features such as a one-tap transfer function compatible with iPhones.
Camera Systems
The standard Camon 50 features a dual-camera setup: a 50MP main sensor (1/1.56-inch) with optical image stabilization (OIS), paired with an 8MP ultrawide lens. The Pro variant adds a third 50MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. Both devices come with a 32MP front-facing camera for selfies.
The Camon 50 is available in Moonshadow Black, Malachite Green, Nebula Titanium, Fir Green, Lavender Mist, and Cream Mint. The Camon 50 Pro comes in the same colors, except Cream Mint, which is replaced by Ethereal Blue.
Company officials emphasized that the series combines durability, strong performance, and AI-enhanced photography, positioning it as an ideal choice for content creators and social media enthusiasts in Uganda.
The Camon 50 is priced at Shs1,090,000.
