The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Election Disputes Tribunal, established by the Party Chairman and President of Uganda, H.E. Yoweri Museveni, has so far handled a total of 120 petitions arising from the recently concluded NRM primaries held on the 17th of this month.

The Tribunal, tasked with resolving internal electoral grievances, has been at the centre of addressing complaints brought forward by party members across the country.

Today, several high-ranking government officials and senior NRM leaders, including Ministers Jim Muhwezi, Milly Babalanda, Diana Mutasingwa, and Hillary Onek, appeared before the Tribunal to respond to various queries related to the primary elections.

Their participation underscores the commitment of the party leadership to uphold transparency, fairness, and accountability within its internal electoral processes.

The ministers engaged in candid discussions with the Tribunal panel, clarifying issues raised in the petitions and offering explanations on contested outcomes.

As the NRM prepares for the next phase of political activity leading up to the general elections, the work of the Election Disputes Tribunal remains crucial in fostering internal unity and restoring confidence among party supporters.

The Tribunal’s continued efforts are expected to reinforce democratic principles within the party and ensure that all members feel heard and respected throughout the electoral process.
