Police in Masaka have arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of Natukunda Jackline, a resident of Lukaya, following investigations into allegations that a traditional healer hired a man to supply human body parts for Shs2 million.
The main suspect, Kamugisha Kulaishi, 38, a moneylender from Kasala LC I in Nyendo-Mukungwe Division, allegedly confessed to killing women, supplying some of their body parts to traditional healers and eating others, including hearts and legs.
According to police, Kamugisha had allegedly received Shs250,000 as an advance payment for the body parts, with Shs1.75 million remaining unpaid. The traditional healer, who is from Kyotera District, is accused of commissioning him to obtain the body parts.
The investigation began on 29 September 2026, after a human head wrapped in a white polythene bag was reportedly dumped at Kako Cell along the Kako–Mukungwe Road in Nyendo-Mukungwe Division. The corresponding headless body was later recovered from Butale Cell in Kyanamukaka.
Following investigations, detectives arrested Kamugisha and the traditional healer. Police said Kamugisha later led detectives and Scenes of Crime Officers through a reconstruction of the crime, demonstrating where and how he allegedly picked up Natukunda from Lukaya before killing her.
Investigators have also linked Kamugisha to two other murder cases reported in Nsangi, Wakiso District, and Sanga. During questioning, he allegedly disclosed that he had eaten the heart of one of the victims. Police have not yet concluded investigations into the additional cases.
A search of Kamugisha’s home led to the recovery of a jacket, gumboots, a saucepan and other items suspected to be connected to ritual activities. The items have been secured for forensic examination as detectives continue gathering evidence.
The two suspects remain under investigation over Natukunda’s murder and the other cases. Police are continuing with inquiries to establish the circumstances of the killings and the alleged involvement of the traditional healer.
