Rwandan President Paul Kagame has congratulated President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni upon his re-election as President of the Republic of Uganda, describing the outcome as a vote of confidence in his leadership.
In a message shared on X, President Kagame extended his best wishes to President Museveni and the people of Uganda, emphasising prosperity and continued service to the nation.
“Congratulations, President @KagutaMuseven,i on your re-election as President of the Republic of Uganda. I extend my best wishes to you and the people of Uganda as you continue to serve your nation for the prosperity of your people,” Kagame said.
The Rwandan leader also reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between Kigali and Kampala, noting the importance of cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.
“I look forward to the continued strong and productive cooperation between our two countries,” he added.
Uganda and Rwanda share longstanding diplomatic, economic, and security ties, with both leaders repeatedly emphasising regional stability and cooperation in the Great Lakes region.
President Yoweri Museveni was re-elected to a seventh term after garnering 7,944,772 votes, winning the election with 71.65 per cent of the total vote.
