Tax collectors , URA FC have officially appointed Hussein Mbalangu as their new head coach for the remainder of the 2025/26 season, with an option to extend his contract at the end of the campaign.
Mbalangu replaces Alex Isabirye Musongola as the Tax Collectors seek to recover from a slow start to their league season. He takes over at a crucial stage of the club’s campaign and brings with him a wealth of experience from across the region.
A CAF A–licensed coach, Mbalangu will be supported by a familiar technical team that was unveiled in Zanzibar on Monday. The team includes Bastu Semuyaba as first assistant coach, Richard Kansole as second assistant coach, Muwadda Byuma as goalkeeper coach, and Farouk Osama as fitness trainer.
Meanwhile, interim head coach Edward Golola has been relieved of his duties. However, some backroom staff will remain to ensure continuity. Manko Kawesa continues as deputy fitness trainer, while Isma Sserebe retains his role as team statistician.
Speaking during his official unveiling ahead of the Mapinduzi Cup, Mbalangu expressed confidence in his ability to restore URA FC to winning ways.
“We are here to work and to bring back the success this great club deserves. I thank the management for the trust and the opportunity. We are ready to start immediately, beginning with the Mapinduzi Cup. Those who haven’t played URA FC yet should get scared — we are here to win,” Mbalangu said.
Mbalangu’s coaching résumé includes stints at Banadir SC (now Mogadishu City) in Somalia, Blacks Power, Arua Hill, Mbarara City, and most recently NEC FC, where he parted ways with the club after the Masaza Cup.
His immediate task will be guiding URA FC at the Mapinduzi Cup in Zanzibar, where they are set to face Mlandenge FC at the Amaan Stadium on December 31.
