Veteran media personality Dr. Mitch Egwang has opened up about his failed marriage, revealing that his 14-year union taught him important lessons about himself, relationships and what he now wants from a future partner.
Speaking during an interview with Flavia Namulindwa, Dr. Mitch revealed that he was married for 14 years and has two children with his former wife. Although the marriage eventually came to an end, he said he does not regret getting married because the experience gave him valuable insights into himself and relationships.
According to Dr. Mitch, being married exposed him to different emotions, experiences and discoveries, including things about himself that he had never previously understood.
“I don’t regret getting married. I got huge insights from that marriage and learned a lot about myself that I didn’t know before.”
He described marriage as a roller coaster of emotions and personal discoveries, arguing that couples should be willing to continuously learn about each other as they grow older.
However, Dr. Mitch admitted that marriage requires commitment and sacrifice, qualities he believes were lacking in his own relationship and are also missing in many marriages today.
He also emphasized the importance of couples evolving together, particularly as life changes and people go through major transformations.
“You have to learn to evolve with each other. The person you loved in your 20s may change after having children, and you have to learn to fall in love with the person they have become.”
Dr. Mitch said his expectations have changed significantly since his younger years. Having learned more about himself, he now understands better what he can tolerate and what he cannot in a relationship.
Despite his past experience, he remains open to marriage and says he will eventually walk down the aisle again when the right time comes.
