Assistant Inspector General of Police (Rtd) Asan Kasingye has stepped down from his role as spokesperson of SC Villa following a disagreement over reports about the club’s presidential nomination fees.

Kasingye who has been the SC Villa spokesperson since 2023, announced his resignation through his X (formerly Twitter) account, expressing frustration over how the matter was handled.

“I have officially resigned as SC Villa Spokesman. This is disrespectful. If what I was stating was wrong, you should have had the courtesy of telling me to correct it,” he wrote. The controversy began after reports emerged claiming that SC Villa had set a nomination fee of Shs100 million for individuals seeking to contest for the position of club president.

Kasingye initially dismissed the reports, saying that such a decision had not been approved during the club’s delegates meeting.

However, the club later issued a statement on its official social media platforms confirming that anyone interested in contesting for the presidency must pay a nomination fee of Shs100 million.

The development has created a public contradiction between the club’s position and the earlier clarification given by Kasingye, prompting his resignation from the spokesperson role.
