Bavana Hostel took its time warming up on Friday, September 25. The early hours of the Club Canvas Kyambogo takeover unfolded at a modest pace, before the gathering grew into a packed campus party.
By around 11pm, the venue was filled to capacity, with students and other revellers settling into a night that would continue into the early morning.

Presented by Fundas Promotions and Club Pilsener, the takeover brought the Club Canvas experience into a familiar student social space.
Rather than asking audiences to travel to a major entertainment venue, the brand brought the party to their doorstep, allowing the hostel grounds to become the setting for an evening of music and shared campus experiences.

The entertainment featured DJ Aloysious, DJ Bugy, DJ Alza, MC Dziz and MC Maxy, among others. As the crowd grew, so did the intensity of the performances.
The DJs and MCs carried the evening through its gradual build-up, with the later sessions finding an audience increasingly ready to dance.

DJ Alza and MC Dziz delivered the night’s standout session. Their dancehall selection brought a particularly strong response from the crowd, lifting the atmosphere as the party reached its busiest stretch.
The pairing gave the takeover much of its late-night character, keeping the stage at the centre of the action well beyond the initial evening programme.

Around the venue, the five-beers-for-Shs15,000 offer was a prominent part of the experience, with revellers taking up the promotion as they socialised. Drinking water was also available as part of Nile Breweries’ responsible-drinking arrangements.
Some students left with more than memories of the music. Club Pilsener merchandise, including jumpers, sweatshirts and jackets, featured among the prizes, alongside beer.

The giveaways added another point of participation during the evening and gave winners something to carry away from the takeover.
For Club Pilsener, the campus series serves a wider purpose. The brand is using these takeovers to re-establish its connection with its original core audience of adult consumers aged mainly 18 to 25.

Hosting the experiences within campus communities places that effort in the social settings where this audience spends time together, with music providing a familiar point of connection.
Kyambogo followed an earlier takeover at Garden Courts Hostel in Makerere. The campus programme also includes Fundas Grounds opposite Akamwesi Hostel in MUBS on October 9, followed by Muteesa I Royal University on October 16, 2026.
