Musician and media personality Crysto Panda has said artists can build sustainable careers through strong brand identities rather than relying entirely on hit songs.
Crysto Panda shared the view during a recent appearance on Galaxy TV’s Jikonkone Rewind, where he discussed the importance of branding in the music industry.
The remarks come as the singer, whose real name is Herbert Kityamuweesi, continues to balance music with his work in media and live entertainment.
Crysto Panda has built his profile through television and radio presenting, event hosting and music. His releases include the Sheebah-assisted remix of Kyoyina Omanya and songs such as Empele.
He has also released Wansigalamu, a collaboration with fellow musicians Lutty Neika and PawaBoy AB.
His argument places emphasis on how artists present themselves to the public and build recognition beyond individual songs.
While a hit can introduce a musician to a wider audience, Crysto Panda’s position suggests that maintaining a recognisable identity is equally important for sustaining a career after the popularity of a particular release fades.
The discussion comes amid wider conversations among Ugandan musicians about the balance between producing hit songs and building brands that can attract opportunities beyond music releases.
Lutty Neika has also spoken about the need to strengthen an artist’s brand even when their songs are already known, highlighting the challenge of turning musical recognition into lasting public appeal.
For Crysto Panda, who operates across music, broadcasting and event hosting, brand identity remains an important part of a musician’s long-term career.
