Vivo Energy Uganda, the company that distributes and markets Shell-branded fuels and lubricants in Uganda, today unveiled its redeveloped Shell Amber Court service station in the heart of Jinja City.

The modern, multi-service mobility hub is designed to serve evolving customer needs, significantly increase its operational capacity while introducing a diverse mix of retail and convenience partners in a one-stop modern destination.

Customers visiting the newly upgraded location can now refuel at a significantly expanded forecourt, dine at Java House or KFC Uganda, access financial services and foreign exchange at Norfrax Forex Bureau, utilise banking amenities through the Stanbic Bank ATM, obtain healthcare products at GoodLife Pharmacy, and access telecom support at the new MTN Uganda service centre.

For visitors stopping for coffee or a meal, the Java House location has doubled in size, featuring an expanded dining area along with designated recreational and play spaces for both children and adults.

The redevelopment has also substantially increased the station’s core operational capacity. The forecourt now features eight fuelling points, up from four to streamline traffic flow, while the expanded Shell Select shop offers a broader assortment of convenience goods and an improved overall shopping experience for customers who live and work in the city, as well as the many travellers passing through one of Uganda’s most important commercial and tourism centres.

To support higher service volume, the station’s fuel storage capacity for Shell V-Power, Shell FuelSave Petrol, and Shell FuelSave Diesel has been expanded. Additionally, the vehicle service bay now includes an extra lane to accommodate more cars, alongside a dedicated service area designed specifically for boda boda riders.

Overall, the project optimises site efficiency by increasing total land utilization from approximately 65 percent to over 90 percent while seamlessly incorporating the latest Shell global visual identity.

Hans Paulsen, Executive Vice President East of Vivo Energy Group, and chief guest at the event said the investment reflects the Group’s broader ambition to grow its business by staying close to customers and the markets in which it operates.

“Across Vivo Energy, we are seeing cities grow, economies develop and the way people move and spend their time change. Our business has to keep pace with that change. Our investment in sites such as Amber Court is therefore about more than adding another place to buy fuel. It is about building a network that is closer to our customers and more relevant to their everyday lives whether they are driving to work, travelling across the country, meeting friends, taking a break or running a business.”

Adding, “Uganda is an important market for Vivo Energy, and Jinja is an important city within Uganda. We see considerable opportunity in both, and we will continue to invest in our people, our network and our customer proposition as we grow the business across the markets in which we operate.”

For Vivo Energy Uganda, the redevelopment is also about understanding what customers need beyond the forecourt.

Joanita Mukasa Menya, Managing Director of Vivo Energy Uganda, said Shell Amber Court reflects the company’s ambition to make Shell locations more useful and convenient parts of customers’ everyday journeys.

“When our customers visit our Shell service stations, they may simply want to refuel and leave. But sometimes they need a coffee, a meal, to pick up something from the shop, access a financial service, service their vehicle or simply take a break before continuing their journey,” she said.

Adding, “Amber Court brings many of those needs together in one place. We have increased the number of fuelling positions, expanded our shop and vehicle service facilities and brought in partners that give our customers more reasons to stop and make their stop more worthwhile. For us, this is what good retail is about: understanding our customers, listening to what they need and continually improving the experience we give them.”

The investment comes at a time when Jinja continues to strengthen its position as a centre for business, tourism, industry and mobility.

Shell Amber Court is part of Vivo Energy Uganda’s continued investment in expanding and modernising its Shell retail network, with additional Shell service stations being opened in locations across the country. The investment is aimed at bringing Shell products and services closer to more customers while creating modern destinations that reflect the changing needs of Ugandans and the communities in which the company operates.

With its expanded forecourt, larger retail and dining spaces, enhanced vehicle service facilities and wider range of on-site partners, Shell Amber Court represents a significant step forward in the evolution of the Shell customer experience in Jinja.
