Outspoken social commentator Frank Gashumba has said he is currently enjoying what he describes as the most peaceful period of his life since marrying his wife, Patience Mutoni Malaika.

Speaking during an appearance on Radio 4, Gashumba noted that it is now about a year since the couple formalised their marriage, adding that life together has been stable and fulfilling.

“I’ve never been as peaceful in my life as I am since marrying Malaika,” he said.

He explained that, unlike in the past when he would make personal decisions independently, he now informs his wife about his plans and activities.

“I do this because I respect her a lot, and she is entitled to know what I am doing,” he added.

Malaika introduced Gashumba to her parents in Ssembabule District in May 2025, a key step in their relationship. In September of the same year, the couple welcomed their first child together, a baby boy named Rwabugiri.

In a previous interview following the introduction ceremony, Gashumba said he values peace, character and intelligence in marriage, adding that he believes he has found those qualities in his wife.
