Security operatives in Kira Division have arrested a man suspected of being behind a series of robberies that have recently unsettled residents and traders in the area.
The suspect was reportedly picked up during a coordinated security operation carried out by police and intelligence officers following weeks of complaints linked to theft and violent attacks in parts of Kira Municipality.
According to preliminary findings, investigators believe the suspect may be connected to a wider criminal group accused of targeting pedestrians, boda boda riders and small businesses, especially during night hours.
Police sources indicated that items believed to be connected to the robberies were recovered at the time of arrest, although authorities had not yet released full details about the exhibits or the suspect’s identity.
The latest arrest follows growing public concern over rising insecurity in some suburbs around Kampala, where residents have repeatedly called for tighter patrols and stronger law enforcement presence.
Authorities said investigations are still ongoing and efforts are underway to trace additional suspects believed to be part of the same network.
Police have encouraged residents to cooperate with security agencies by sharing information that could help prevent crime and improve community safety.
