Promoter Abitex has openly criticized Jose Chameleone’s decision to alter his concert schedule, deeming it an act of cowardice rather than a strategic move. Abitex believes Chameleone missed an opportunity to prove his drawing power against fellow artist King Saha.
Events promoter Abbey Musinguzi, widely known as Abitex, has voiced strong disapproval of Jose Chameleone’s decision to back down from a potential concert showdown with King Saha. Abitex contends that the veteran Ugandan musician’s choice to adjust his concert date, citing reports of a clash with Saha’s event, demonstrated a lack of confidence.
Abitex argued that both Chameleone and King Saha possess substantial fan bases that would have supported their respective concerts, even if scheduled on the same day. He suggested that the artists appeal to distinct audiences, thus mitigating direct competition and ensuring the success of both events.
“Chameleone expressed cowardice by attempting to move his concert just because of clashing on the same date with King Saha. He feared, yet both events would have been successful,” Abitex stated. He further implied that differing fan demographics and even potential political leanings of their supporters would have naturally separated their audiences.
The promoter emphasized that Chameleone, as one of Uganda’s most established artists, should have had the fortitude to proceed with his original plans. This public critique comes in the wake of Chameleone’s announcement that he had relinquished a booking at the Lugogo Cricket Oval. While speculation mounted about a direct clash with King Saha, Saha later issued a statement to quell rumors, indicating no intention to schedule his event on the same date.
Regardless of this particular scheduling debate, both Chameleone and Saha remain prominent figures in the Ugandan music scene, with their fans eagerly anticipating upcoming performances. This incident highlights the competitive dynamics and public scrutiny within the nation’s vibrant entertainment industry.
