A Ugandan TikToker has been charged in court over alleged hate speech and unlawful access to personal data belonging to the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

The accused, Ibrahim Musana, popularly known on social media as Pressure 24/7, was arraigned and charged with hate speech and unlawful access to personal data after prosecutors accused him of sharing the CDF’s photograph and publishing statements on social media claiming that the army chief was unfit to hold public office.

According to the charge sheet, Musana allegedly accessed and circulated personal data belonging to Gen. Muhoozi without authorization and used his platforms to post statements considered offensive and damaging.

The case has drawn renewed attention to Musana, who has previously faced similar legal battles over his online commentary.

Last year, the TikToker was acquitted in a separate case in which he had been accused of making offensive posts about several high-profile figures, including President Yoweri Museveni and the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.

That earlier ruling cleared Musana of charges related to allegedly insulting the leaders through his social media content.

Authorities say the new charges stem from more recent posts targeting Gen. Muhoozi, who has in recent years been a frequent subject of online debate and commentary.

If convicted, Musana could face penalties under Uganda’s laws governing hate speech and misuse of personal data, which regulate how individuals access and share personal information online.

The court is expected to set further hearing dates as investigations and prosecution of the case continue.
