Ugandan tours and travel entrepreneur Mulungi Allen Nagawa will on, October 31, celebrate 6 years in the industry with a glamorous red-carpet event at Hotel Africana, highlighting a journey she describes as one of “faith, resilience and destiny.”

“I was born without a sense of smell, but I can smell my destiny clearly,” Mulungi told this reporter. “I see a girl who had every reason to give up… but chose to stand, fight, and believe in God’s plan.”

Mulungi, 30, started her company – Mulungi Allen The Mighty Tours and Travel, in 2019 after a difficult childhood in Nsambya, Lukuli, and a string of personal and professional setbacks.

She grew up in a two-room home with six siblings under the care of a Reverend father and hardworking mother.

After struggles with school and failed business ventures, she discovered the travel industry almost by accident while looking for NGO work in Kampala. Within months, she became a top marketer for a tours company and later launched her own firm.

Her early years in business were rocky. Her first Dubai trip flopped, and during the COVID-19 pandemic she lost her father, whom she had promised to take abroad. But she pressed on, eventually organizing successful Dubai and European tours and earning partnerships with brands such as Mirembe Beddings and Nsambya Furniture.

Today, she is known for her corporate travel services and youth mentorship. “My proudest moment was taking my mother to Dubai,” she said.

Build-Up to the Celebration

Preparations are underway for the October 31 gala, which is expected to draw clients, partners, and supporters from across Uganda’s tourism sector. Organizers say the evening will include live entertainment, client testimonials, and a tribute to Mulungi’s late father.

Industry observers view the milestone as both a personal victory and a sign of the growing role of women entrepreneurs in Uganda’s tourism sector.
