Veteran Ugandan musician Master Parrot has died following a tragic road accident along the Northern Bypass in Kampala.

According to eyewitnesses, the singer was struck by a speeding motorcycle on Monday evening as he attempted to cross the busy highway. He is said to have died instantly at the scene.

The fatal incident reportedly occurred in the Masanafu area, a stretch known for heavy traffic along the Kampala Northern Bypass. Police later transported his body to Mulago Hospital for further procedures.

News of his sudden death sent shockwaves through his home in Wabiduku, Kiwatule, where family members, friends, and fans gathered in disbelief.

Born David Sifayo, Master Parrot rose to prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s, becoming a household name in Uganda’s music scene. He was best known for hit songs like Muliro and Kikompola, which earned him a strong following across the country.

In recent years, however, the singer had kept a low profile as he reportedly battled personal challenges. Earlier this year, videos circulating on social media showed him in distress, raising concern among fans and fellow artists.

Reports indicated that he had been struggling with alcohol addiction and related mental health issues. His mother had publicly appealed for help to secure rehabilitation support for him. Fellow musician Qute Kaye, who has previously overcome similar struggles, was among those who called for intervention.

Despite the hardships, Master Parrot had recently expressed a desire to rebuild his career and return to the stage.

His passing marks the end of an era for many who grew up listening to his music.
