Speaking to the media on Wednesday, 11th February, 2026, the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) President Jimmy Akena came out and told the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the first son of Museveni, the President-elect.

Jimmy Akena told the CDF Muhoozi Kainerugaba to “grow up”, calling his acts reckless and embarrassing to all the Ugandans.

“CDF Muhoozi Kainerugaba, please grow up. The responsibility which you want to assume as the president of the republic cannot be accompanied by this sort of behaviour,” he said.

“The sort of attitude and statements that have been coming out of the Office of the CDF is an embarrassment to all of us as Ugandans.”

Gen Muhoozi is the Chief of the Uganda Army and is watched by many prominent figures in the country’s political sector, as well as attracting attention from both international and domestic observers who have consistently criticised his social media statements.

We should remember that after the 2026 presidential elections, the CDF Muhoozi posted on his social media page on X (formerly Twitter), accusing the US Embassy of helping the opposition leader, Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, but later he apologised and deleted the posts after they had again drawn a lot of diplomatic engagement.
