The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has dismissed as false a notice circulating online claiming that the 2025 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results would be released on February 25.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, UNEB clarified that the alleged notice did not originate from the board and warned the public against being misled by unverified information shared on social media platforms and messaging applications.
According to UNEB, the fake notice, which began circulating widely on the internet earlier this week, falsely quoted official board procedures and used UNEB branding in an apparent attempt to appear authentic.
The board said it became aware of the misinformation after receiving multiple inquiries from anxious parents, candidates, and school administrators.
“UNEB has not announced any date for the release of the 2025 PLE results. Any information suggesting otherwise should be treated as false,” the board stated, emphasising that official communication regarding examinations and results is only issued through its verified channels.
UNEB further cautioned members of the public to rely solely on announcements made through its official website, verified social media accounts, and formal press briefings. The board noted that the spread of false information creates unnecessary panic and confusion among candidates and their families.
The examination body also warned individuals involved in the creation and circulation of fake notices that such actions may attract legal consequences under existing laws governing misinformation and impersonation of public institutions.
UNEB assured candidates and stakeholders that once the marking and verification processes are complete, an official date for the release of PLE results will be communicated transparently and promptly.
The Primary Leaving Examination is a key national assessment that determines learners’ transition from primary to secondary education, making its results highly anticipated across the country.
