President Museveni to build industrial park in Yumbe

President Museveni has announced plans to establish an Industrial Park in Yumbe District, aimed at creating jobs and promoting local industry, as part of ongoing efforts to stimulate economic growth in the region.

“we plan to establish an Industrial Park to generate jobs and promote local industry,” he said.

Speaking on Thursday, Museveni highlighted the impact of the Parish Development Model (PDM) program, which has already delivered nearly shs60 billion to households in Yumbe, helping families participate in the money economy.

“We will enhance fund delivery for faster disbursement and better supervision,” Museveni said, emphasizing the government’s commitment to efficient implementation of development programs.

The president also praised the local community for donating land for a model farm that will demonstrate modern agricultural techniques and produce seedlings for cocoa, coffee, and fruits.

“This initiative aims to eliminate poverty and foster wealth in our communities,” he said.

The planned Industrial Park is expected to create employment opportunities and support local enterprises, reinforcing the government’s drive to develop Yumbe into a hub of economic activity.

Museveni also reiterated the government’s focus on quality and inclusive learning.

“Our goal is to ensure free and quality education for all, strengthening UPE and USE, complemented by the Presidential Industrial Skilling Hubs for practical skills development.”

He also highlighted improvements in healthcare and infrastructure, saying Yumbe’s Regional Referral Hospital is expanding with new wards, and safe water coverage has reached 77 percent, with additional systems being implemented.

“Yumbe’s progress is a tangible result of NRM’s efforts against poverty and inequality, emphasizing that true Uzalendo involves unity and cooperation for the benefit of all Ugandans,”Mhe added.
