Police in Kampala are investigating a robbery and assault incident at a bar in Munyonyo, in which Shakib Cham, the husband of businesswoman and socialite Zari Hassan, has been summoned to assist with inquiries.

The incident reportedly occurred on December 27, 2025, at Chezz Boss Mutoto Bar in Munyonyo. According to Kampala Metropolitan Police, a group of suspects allegedly stormed the bar, assaulted patrons, and fled with several mobile phones.

Speaking on the matter, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, said preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects were allegedly led by a businessman identified as Shakib, who operates in the Kasanga area.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that a group of suspects, allegedly led by one Shakibu, descended on patrons at Chezz Boss Mutoto Bar, assaulted them and robbed four victims of their mobile phones,” ASP Owoyesigyire said.

Police confirmed that four people were robbed during the attack and that a case of robbery and assault has since been registered at Kabalagala Police Station.

Detectives have visited the scene as part of ongoing efforts to establish what transpired and to identify all individuals involved in the incident. As investigations continue, Shakib Cham has been formally summoned to report to Kabalagala Police Station to assist police with further inquiries.

“Police investigators are working on identifying all individuals who participated in the attack, and one Shakibu Cham has been summoned to assist with the ongoing investigations,” Owoyesigyire added.

Police strongly condemned the incident, describing it as an act of violence and lawlessness, and reassured the public that those found culpable will be held accountable.

“The Police strongly condemn acts of violence and lawlessness and assure the public that investigations will be conducted to their logical conclusion to ensure that all perpetrators are brought to justice,” Owoyesigyire said.

Authorities noted that investigations are still ongoing and that additional details will be communicated as more information becomes available.
