Nile Breweries Limited (NBL), through its premium brand Castle Lite, has launched the “Cheers to Bars” campaign, highlighting the economic and cultural importance of Uganda’s bar industry.

The campaign was unveiled on Saturday, August 30, 2025, during the Mun G Live at The Champions Ball concert at Serena Hotel in Kampala.

The event drew a near-capacity crowd and featured performances from Mun G alongside leading Ugandan artists including Navio, Big Trill, Naava Grey, Nutty Neithan, Da Agent, and Benti Boys.

Mun G thrilled fans with a decade-long catalogue of hits such as Bintwala and Ssejusa, while also paying tribute to his late grandmother, who passed away days before the concert. In another emotional moment, his young son joined him on stage, underscoring the generational impact of his music.

Beyond the music, Nile Breweries used the concert to draw attention to the bar industry’s role in driving jobs, tax revenue, and cultural connection.

According to the Oxford Economics Beer Report, the beer sector contributed shs 2.31 trillion to Uganda’s GDP in 2023, supporting over 170,000 jobs and generating shs 4.19 trillion in tax revenue.

Speaking at the launch, Emmanuel Njuki, NBL’s Country Legal and Corporate Affairs Lead, said bars are central to Uganda’s social and economic life.

“Bars are more than meeting points; they are economic engines and cultural centres that bring people together. With ‘Cheers to Bars,’ we are shining a light on the unsung heroes of Uganda’s bar culture — the bar owners, bartenders, and communities they serve,” he said.

The “Cheers to Bars” campaign is expected to roll out nationwide, engaging stakeholders across Uganda’s nightlife economy and reinforcing the role of bars as spaces for creativity, employment, and community.
