Musician Ykee Benda, real name Wycliff Tugume, has officially taken a major step in his relationship by visiting the parents of his fiancée, Emily Nyawira, in a traditional Kukyala ceremony.

The intimate event was held on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at a residence in Kiwatule, Ntinda, and was attended by a small circle of close family members and friends.

During the ceremony, Ykee Benda was formally introduced to Emily’s parents, who warmly welcomed him into the family and offered their blessings to the couple.

This milestone comes just weeks after their engagement on June 13, 2025. According to sources close to the couple, preparations are already underway for subsequent traditional and religious ceremonies, with a church wedding expected later this month.

Taking to his X page (formerly Twitter), Ykee Benda shared a heartfelt message about the occasion:

“Three years ago, I made a promise to a young lawyer—that I would bring honor to her name and her father’s house. Yesterday was the beginning of fulfilling that promise. Beautiful as ever, she walked into a room full of family and could barely hold her emotions. She knelt down to greet Badman and introduce him to the Old Man. The elders met and agreed on the cows and goats, and as for us—the two lovebirds—we couldn’t be more grateful to God. Emily’s Kukyala 2025. Thank you to everyone who stood with us. On to the next one.”
