Speaking to our moles on September 3, 2026, Geoffrey Kanyonyi, the Kingdom’s Spokesperson, said Mumbere left the country on August 27 at 11:00 pm and arrived in Turkey on August 28 at 5:37 am.

“I appeal to all the subjects and friends of the kingdom not to panic because he has gone for a normal medical review following his earlier admission at the same facility in Turkey last year,” Kanyonyi said. The Omusinga travelled to Turkey in October last year for specialised medical treatment and returned in December of the same year.

Then, he remained in his Kampala-based palace to convalesce until the month of March 2026, when he returned to his kingdom.

Kanyonyi called for calm among the Rwenzururu subjects and encouraged them to participate in the Kingdom’s forthcoming programmes as indicated on the calendar.

He, among others, mentioned the diamond jubilee celebrations of Mumbere’s coronation, which is scheduled for October 19 and his birthday run scheduled for November 14 this year.

“The King encourages us to foster all these in solidarity, reflecting on the sole aim of developing and making the kingdom stronger,” Kanyonyi said.

Kanyonyi said the Omusinga also joined the people of Tooro in mourning the loss of their king, Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.
