NUP Can’t Survive Without Bobi Wine – Justine Nameere

Former media personality turned politician Justine Nameere has launched a scathing attack on the National Unity Platform (NUP), claiming the party has no future without its president, Bobi Wine.

The presidential advisor and Masaka City Woman MP-elect did not mince her words, arguing that NUP lacks real grassroots structures and is only surviving on Bobi Wine’s personal popularity.

According to Nameere, the biggest opposition party in the country has no clear ideology and is built more on hype and rhetoric than solid political foundations.

She compared NUP to the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), which she claims collapsed after Dr Kizza Besigye lost political momentum.

“I think NUP will be like FDC. They have no structures. When Besigye lost popularity, FDC crumbled, and it’s the same thing with NUP. They are here only because the party president is popular across the country,” Nameere said.

Nameere further asserted that once Bobi Wine’s popularity declines, NUP will automatically fade from the political scene.

The outspoken politician also touched on her own controversial victory, maintaining that NUP’s Rose Nalubowa allegedly connived with Electoral Commission officials in an attempt to rig her out of the Masaka City Woman MP seat, forcing her to seek justice in court.

Her remarks have since sparked heated debate, with NUP supporters dismissing her claims as propaganda, while others argue she raised uncomfortable but valid points about party structures in Uganda
