Preparations for the 2025 National Resistance Movement (NRM) Delegates’ Conference are officially underway, with the party unveiling a 250-member steering committee to oversee the event scheduled for Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

The week-long conference will bring together over 25,000 leaders from sub-county to national level. Traditionally held at Mandela National Stadium, the event will this year shift to Kololo as the stadium hosts the African Nations Championship (CHAN) games.

Speaking at the inaugural planning meeting on 12 August, NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong said the organizing committees were already at work and would begin accrediting delegates by 20 August. Accreditation will take place at Nakawa ICT Centre.

“Only elected delegates who qualify as members of the conference will be accredited. We shall send lists to the districts,” Todwong said, urging participants to maintain order during arrivals and meetings. He called on the organizing committee to “do a much better job than before” to ensure the conference’s success.

The oversight committee will be chaired by NRM First Vice National Chairman, Al Hajji Moses Kigongo, while operations will be led by Todwong, supported by subcommittees meeting daily to track progress.

Director of Communication at the NRM Secretariat and organizing committee spokesperson, Hon. Emmanuel Dombo, said preparations are being conducted on behalf of party chairman and President of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

The meeting was attended by top NRM Secretariat officials, including Deputy Secretary General Namayanja Rose Nsereko, National Treasurer Amb. Barbara Nekesa, Deputy National Treasurer Jacqueline Kyatuhaire, Director of Mobilization Dr. Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde, Director of Finance and Administration Hajjat Medina Naham, and NRM Electoral Commission Commissioner Driwaru Zaitun.
