The NRM Electoral Commission has disclosed that more than 800 aspirants out of the 2,800 who initially collected nomination forms have so far returned them for the nomination process.

“By Wednesday evening, over 800 individuals who picked nomination forms had submitted them,” said the Commission.

Speaking on the third day of the nominations, NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson, Dr. Tanga Odoi, noted that a notable number of candidates are running unopposed, which he described as a positive sign of the candidates’ popularity within the party.

“We’ve not encountered any major disruptions,” Tanga stated. “Instead, we’ve seen a high number of unopposed aspirants—possibly about seven by now. That reflects well on the party.”

He also informed the media that the Commission had received six formal complaints concerning aspirants who were disqualified due to inadequate academic credentials, as well as three others disqualified over criminal background issues. “We’ve handed those matters to the legal team,” he added.

Dr. Tanga went on to commend the aspirants for their interest and professional conduct during the nomination exercise.

“I want to appreciate all NRM members for their enthusiastic participation and the orderly manner in which they submitted their documents. Such dedication to the party’s internal processes is commendable. I also extend my gratitude to the Electoral Commission staff both the commissioners and support teams for their commitment, timeliness, and work ethic,” he concluded.
