The NRM has backed the late Gen Moses Ali’s son, Kassim Ali, as his successor.

Gen Ali died on July 18. He was the MP for Adjumani West.

As required by law, the Electoral Commission is to hold a by-election.

The election will be held on September 17. Six candidates have shown interest in the seat. Gen Ali’s orphan is one of them.

Kassim is a lawyer by profession.

“Adjumani West will benefit a lot from him and a continuation of his father’s legacy,” said Mike Mukula. “He is an effective young man…a gentleman and a generational leader…” Mukula was Moses Ali’s good friend.
