Former Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda and former Makerere University Business School Principal Prof Wasswa Balunywa have been appointed to the National Resistance Movement Central Executive Committee.
NRM Director for Information and Publicity Emmanuel Dombo said the appointments were made during the party’s CEC meeting at State House, Entebbe, on July 3, 2026.
The party also appointed veteran politician Magode Okuya and Vurra County MP Charity Lenia to the top organ.
CEC is one of the most powerful organs of the ruling party. It guides major political decisions and helps shape the party’s direction.
The NRM also named three new parliamentary commissioners. They are Susan Abeja Jolly, the Otuke District Woman MP, Faith Nakut, the Napak District Woman MP, and Jesica Ababiku, the Adjumani District Woman MP.
The commissioners form part of Parliament’s administrative leadership. They oversee the institution’s governance, the welfare of MPs and staff, and the implementation of parliamentary policies.
