Fear and uncertainty have gripped residents of Namasuba following the alleged abduction of Mukubira Shafiq, a teacher at TOSIA School in Ndejje.

According to family members, Shafiq was taken from his home on the evening of March 22, 2025, by heavily armed men traveling in a white “drone” vehicle commonly associated with security operations. Since then, his whereabouts remain unknown.

Relatives say efforts to trace him through various police stations and security offices have yielded no answers, leaving the family in deep distress.

Neighbours describe Shafiq as a peaceful and hardworking teacher, noting that his sudden disappearance has shocked the entire community.

The family is now demanding that authorities account for his whereabouts or present him before a court of law if he is being held legally.

“The silence surrounding Mukubira Shafiq’s disappearance is deeply worrying. Authorities should come out clearly and tell the public where he is,” said the LC1 chairman of Namasuba.

Human rights activists have also raised concern over what they describe as a growing number of alleged enforced disappearances across the country.
