The remains of the late King of Tooro, Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, arrived in Uganda on Friday morning ahead of his official burial.
According to the official programme, the aircraft carrying the King’s remains is scheduled to arrive at Entebbe International Airport at 5:00 am on 4 September 2026, and President Yoweri Museveni had to lead the reception.
Officials from Tooro Kingdom arrived at the airport at 8:30 am, followed by government ministers at 9:00 am. President Museveni arrived at 9:50 am and proceeded to the Presidential Lounge.
After the aircraft arrived, the President had to proceed to the flag mast to receive the King’s remains.
The Queen Mother then disembarked from the aircraft and joined President Museveni at the reception area.
Uganda Police drape the casket in both the Uganda national colours and Tooro Kingdom colours before it is wheeled through a guard of honour mounted by the police.
The casket was placed at a designated point in front of the President, who paid his final respects and laid a wreath.
It will subsequently be moved to a waiting helicopter.
President Museveni also held a brief meeting with the Queen Mother and five selected members of the Royal Family at the Presidential Lounge.
The delegation accompanying the King’s remains is expected to leave Entebbe by helicopter for Kyegegwa District.
