The Ministry of Health has reassured Ugandans that there is no resurgence of COVID-19 in the country, following recent media reports suggesting otherwise. These reports, according to the Ministry, are based on outdated clips being re-shared to mislead the public.

Dr. Charles Olaro, the Director General of Health Services, confirmed that the national situation remains stable and under control, emphasising that the country has had no major COVID-19 outbreaks since three years ago. “The Ministry continues to monitor trends to ensure early detection and prompt response,” Dr. Olaro said.

The Ministry also continues to track information about new strains of the virus being reported globally and is working with local and international stakeholders to safeguard the public’s health.

Uganda’s surveillance and response systems remain strong, and they are capable of detecting and addressing any emerging public health threats.

In light of recent reports, the Ministry urges anyone experiencing flu-like symptoms to visit a health facility for testing and care. It also reminds the public to maintain good hygiene practices, including washing hands with soap and water or using an alcohol-based sanitizer.

The Ministry urged Ugandans to stay informed by relying on credible updates from official sources.
