Two senior Kamuli District officials have been arraigned in court for allegedly misappropriating over UGX 600 million meant for road rehabilitation and maintenance.
Nasser Mukiibi, the district’s Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), and Alex Kifuuse, Chief Finance Officer (CFO), appeared before the Anti-Corruption Court on Monday, facing charges of abuse of office and causing financial loss.
Prosecutors allege that between May and June 2025, the two officials, together with another suspect still at large, approved payments for road works that were never executed.
Payments were made to suppliers including Raven Knights Ltd, Total Uganda Limited, and Mufumba Daniel, the district engineer, for fuel, construction materials, traffic control signs, and allowances intended for the Nawanyago–Kisozi Road project.
“The accused abused their authority and spent the entire allocation without carrying out the planned works,” the prosecution stated in court.
The accused were remanded until January 20, 2026, as investigations continue.
This case comes amid increasing scrutiny of local government officials over the handling of public funds, particularly those allocated to critical infrastructure projects that remain incomplete.
