The Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, has cautioned against increasing cases of abuse of the law and violations of human rights, warning that such practices undermine peace, justice, and national stability.
He made the remarks on Wednesday while meeting clan leaders (Abataka) at Mengo Palace, where he stressed that adherence to the rule of law is essential for fairness and unity in society.
Kabaka Mutebi noted that disregard for legal processes poses a serious danger to governance and social harmony, urging leaders and institutions to act responsibly and within the law.
He also expressed concern for individuals whose rights have been violated, calling on those in authority to ensure that justice, fairness, and respect for human rights guide the country’s leadership.
According to the Kabaka, lasting peace can only be achieved when laws are applied equally and citizens’ rights are fully protected.
In the same address, the Kabaka commended young people for their growing involvement in Buganda Kingdom initiatives, saying their participation is vital to the future of the institution.
He highlighted ongoing challenges facing Buganda, including land grabbing, poverty, and disease, and urged collective effort in addressing them.
Kabaka Mutebi said unity between leaders and the youth will be key in overcoming these problems and strengthening the Kingdom’s development agenda.
