Court Petition Pits Jose Chameleone Against Daniella In Property Custody Dispute

Musician Joseph Mayanja, popularly known as Jose Chameleone, is embroiled in a custody battle with his ex-wife and the mother of his children, Daniella Atim, over properties in and around Kampala.

Daniella has asked the Family Division of the Magistrates Court in Kampala to grant her full custody of Chameleone’s house in Seguku, two plots of land along the Entebbe Expressway, and other properties within the city. The request follows her recent filing for divorce.

Chameleone, however, has resisted the move, insisting the properties belong to his children but that he will not be compelled to relinquish control while he is still alive.

“My assets are for my children. They will also leave them for my grandchildren. I will not hand over the properties while I’m still alive, but they are the owners. The problem I’m finding is that they want me to sign off on a will while I’m still alive,” Chameleone said in a video circulating online.

The Leone Island boss argued that Daniella’s lawsuit was akin to forcing him to write a will prematurely. He emphasised his desire to protect his legacy and ensure his properties benefit not just his children but also future generations.

Chameleone also dismissed rumours that he was depressed, stressing that he remains in good health and at peace.

“I am doing well, my friends; I am not stressed. I understand that life is not all about us. It’s vanity—things come and go,” he added.

The singer maintained that, just like Daniella, he is also fighting in the best interest of their children.
