The Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has hosted the Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to Uganda, H.E. Etsegenet Bezabih Yimenu, at the Special Forces Command Headquarters in Entebbe.

During the meeting, Gen. Kainerugaba thanked the Ambassador for her dedication to fostering ties between the two countries throughout her tenure in Kampala.

Noting that the relationship between Uganda and Ethiopia was forged long ago by shared history, the CDF observed that both nations serve as regional anchors.

He pointed to their early coordination in liberation struggles and their vital contributions to African Union peace missions, particularly in Somalia, as indicators of this bond.

The CDF observed that Uganda and Ethiopia are connected by a common destiny shaped by standing firm in the face of regional challenges.

He highlighted flourishing diplomatic relations built on mutual respect, a shared commitment to stability, and regular high-level visits that signal deep camaraderie.

Ambassador Yimenu expressed her appreciation for the warm reception and echoed the sentiments of solidarity.

She expressed sincere gratitude to the CDF for accommodating the request for the meeting at short notice and extended her appreciation for the support rendered during the Adwa celebrations in Kololo earlier this year.

She emphasized that the gesture reflects the deep-rooted relationship between the two nations.

Additionally, the Ambassador briefed the CDF on the successful conclusion of the recent Ethiopian elections, conveying her thanks to H.E. the President of Uganda and the Government of Uganda for their congratulatory message.

Both the CDF and the Ambassador underscored the enduring partnership between Uganda and Ethiopia, reaffirming their commitment to enhancing bilateral and defence cooperation.
