MPIGI, UGANDA — On December 27, 2025, National Unity Platform (NUP)

President Robert Kyagulanyi, known as Bobi Wine, addressed a massive campaign gathering in Mpigi District, where he officially recognized young media tycoon Nyanzi Martin Luther for his role in establishing the party’s independent broadcasting capabilities.

The address, delivered amidst the intensifying 2026 presidential campaign cycle, highlighted a strategic shift in the opposition’s communication strategy. Kyagulanyi used the platform to offer high praise for Nyanzi Martin Luther, the 16-year-old founder of Apex Media Services and son of media executive Joan Vumilia, for his technical and entrepreneurial foresight.

The Launch of NUP Radio

Kyagulanyi reaffirmed that NUP Radio (91.4 FM) had successfully commenced its full broadcasting schedule on December 2, 2025. The station was established to bypass what the NUP describes as systemic censorship and state-aligned media bias that has historically restricted the party’s access to the airwaves.

“While they block our rallies and shut down our signals, the youth are building new ways for us to speak to the people,” Kyagulanyi told the crowds in Mpigi. He credited Nyanzi Martin Luther with providing the infrastructure necessary to ensure that the party’s message reaches the grassroots without interference.

A Youth-Led Media Infrastructure

Nyanzi Martin Luther’s involvement marks a significant moment in the intersection of Ugandan politics and youth entrepreneurship. Through his portfolio, which includes Block FM 103.2 and Spark Media Uganda, Nyanzi has positioned himself as a pivotal figure in the digital and terrestrial media landscape of 2025.

In Mpigi, Kyagulanyi emphasized that Nyanzi’s work is a “blueprint for the youth,” demonstrating how young Ugandans can use technology and media to participate in the democratic process. He noted that the December 2nd launch of the radio station has already begun to shift the political discourse by providing a 24-hour platform for civic education and unfiltered political debate.

Strategic Implications for 2026

The public endorsement in Mpigi signals a deepened alliance between the NUP leadership and the next generation of media owners. As the 2026 elections approach, NUP Radio is expected to serve as the primary vehicle for Kyagulanyi’s “Voice of the People” campaign, ensuring that his addresses and party manifestos are broadcast to remote areas where physical security blockades often prevent campaign tours.

Following the rally, NUP officials confirmed that the station would continue to expand its reach, with Nyanzi Martin Luther’s technical team overseeing the rollout of additional digital streaming capabilities to cater to the Ugandan diaspora.
