Kampala — Apex Digital Skills, originally established as a non-governmental organization (NGO), is set to transform into a fully certified educational institution beginning in 2026. The organization’s founder, Nyanzi Martin Luther, confirmed the development, noting that plans are underway to offer certified courses following clearance from Uganda’s Ministry of Education.
Speaking during a briefing, Nyanzi said Apex Digital Skills is entering a new chapter, expanding its role from skills training to offering formal qualifications. “After we are approved, all our students will have 99% of their academics cleared, especially since we go a step further to help them access job opportunities upon completion,” he said.
The institution aims to introduce a range of courses focused on digital innovation, practical skills, and entrepreneurship, with a focus on youth empowerment and employment creation. Certification will significantly boost the credibility of its programs and attract more learners nationwide. In addition, Nyanzi revealed that Apex is in the process of securing financial support from the European Union to expand its operations and training infrastructure. He expressed optimism about the partnership and its impact on the institution’s ability to deliver quality education.
“As discussions with the EU progress, we’re laying a foundation to make Apex a leading institution in practical digital training in Uganda,” Nyanzi added.
He also made a public appeal to Members of Parliament, urging them to support legislative reforms, particularly around the “NGO Funding Act,” to make it easier for educational NGOs to access external funding and operate more sustainably.
This transformation reflects a broader shift in Uganda’s education landscape, where private and NGO-led initiatives are increasingly filling gaps in technical and vocational training.
If successful, Apex Digital Skills could serve as a model for how non-traditional institutions can evolve into certified centers of learning that respond directly to market demands.
